A NEW ERA OF COSMETIC PACKAGING: CARTON, SUSTAINABILITY, AND PREMIUM DESIGN
Does the customer really want sustainability, or do they simply want to feel that they are choosing an eco-friendly product?
During the presentation, the speaker will discuss the most important changes currently taking place in the cosmetics industry, driven by growing consumer expectations, retailer requirements, and new EU regulations, including the PPWR. She will explain why paperboard packaging is becoming increasingly important and where the line lies between solutions that are genuinely environmentally friendly and those that only appear to be so.
The presentation will also cover the key challenges facing cosmetics manufacturers, such as product durability and protection, resistance to moisture and grease, e-commerce logistics requirements, and the possibility of achieving a premium look and feel without using plastic.

11:45 - 12:30
Marek Żak, Operations Director at Polpak Packaging, Member of the Supervisory Board of the Creative Packaging Group (CPG) Cluster
THE BRAIN BUYS FASTER THAN WE THINK. THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF CONSUMER DECISION-MAKING
Reaching for a product takes less time than reading the sentence you are reading right now. In that fraction of a second, evaluation, recognition and the purchasing decision all take place. Consumers believe they are making conscious choices. Research, however, shows that mechanisms beyond their conscious awareness play a major role.
During the presentation, we will explore how packaging influences purchasing decisions, which elements build trust in a product, and why there are so many misconceptions surrounding packaging materials — particularly plastics — that have a real impact on consumer choices.

12:30 - 13:15
Justyna Kierzkowska-Grzyb, Business Development Director at FleXon
PACKAGING AS A STRATEGIC TOOL FOR BUILDING A COSMETICS BRAND – FROM INITIAL STRATEGIC ASSUMPTIONS TO THE PRODUCT’S REAL PRESENCE ON THE SHELF
The presentation will focus on the role of strategy — including packaging strategy — in building a brand and driving sales, as well as the design challenges arising from regulations and sustainability requirements. It will also address the realities of cooperation between strategy, design and retail, and how decisions made at the strategic stage can influence the success of a product. The speaker will also discuss the expectations of major retail chains towards owners of cosmetics and dietary supplement brands.

13:15 - 14:00

DESIGNED SO NO ONE PUTS IT BACK. HOW PACKAGING WINS THE CUSTOMER YOUR COMPETITION LOSES.
Graphics are only the final stage. The fate of the packaging is decided much earlier — through decisions made before the first sketch is created.
We will show how to design packaging that works for every generation. Packaging that stands out on the shelf, is easy to read and handle, and is simple to use, without compromising the brand’s elegance or character. This approach is only beginning to gain importance in Polish packaging design, but for brands it can already become a real competitive advantage.
Participants will see real-life examples from the cosmetics and pharmaceutical industries — packaging that wins customers, as well as packaging that loses them.
They will also have the opportunity to see live how a brief is transformed into the right design decision. At key decision-making points, the participants will choose the direction, and the presenter will show where each choice leads.
We will not focus on materials or brand strategy. Instead, we will take one step back — to the decisions at the intersection of business, marketing, technology and design that make one package work for everyone.

14:00 - 14:45
Konrad Nowakowski, Ecosystem – expert and advisor in the field of environmental protection, waste management, and packaging
THE COST OF POOR PACKAGING: WHERE COSMETICS MANUFACTURERS LOSE MONEY DURING THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION STAGES
Packaging in the cosmetics industry is increasingly becoming more than just a carrier of brand identity and aesthetics. At the design and implementation stages, it becomes one of the key areas affecting product costs, production efficiency, logistics, regulatory compliance, and the final quality of the product’s shelf presence.
In practice, many losses do not result from the packaging price itself, but from earlier decision-making mistakes: over-dimensioning, incorrect selection of materials and components, lack of compatibility with production lines, overlooking environmental and recycling requirements, as well as insufficient coordination between marketing, technology, procurement, and compliance teams.
The presentation will focus on analysing the most common points of value loss in the process of designing and implementing cosmetic packaging. The aim will be to show where manufacturers actually lose money and how, already at the stage of the design brief and implementation decisions, they can reduce costs, operational risks, and errors that later lead to complaints, logistical complications, lower efficiency, and weaker market performance of the product.

14:45 - 15:30
Katarzyna Krzakiewicz, J.S. Hamilton
IS YOUR PACKAGING SAFE?
What can migrate from packaging into the product — and how can it be prevented? Chemical safety of packaging for cosmetics and household chemicals.
During the presentation, the speaker will discuss issues related to the migration of substances from packaging into the product and the resulting risks for cosmetics and household chemical manufacturers. She will explain which risks are real, how to identify them, and how to effectively prevent them.
